Pune to the Sacred and Scenic Side of Uttarakhand

The Do Dham Yatra with Tungnath Chopta Group Tour Package From Pune takes travellers from Maharashtra to the Garhwal Himalayas, combining visits to Kedarnath and Badrinath with the mountain destinations of Chopta and Tungnath.

The journey begins with the Pune to Delhi connection and then continues towards Uttarakhand. Haridwar and Rishikesh introduce the Himalayan section before the route moves through Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Guptkashi.

From there, the itinerary becomes more active, with the Kedarnath trek followed by the Chopta and Tungnath section. Badrinath and the Mana Village circuit then complete the main Himalayan journey.

Four Main Stages of the Journey

Rather than following the same experience throughout, the itinerary changes significantly as it progresses.

Kedarnath brings the longest trekking section and the first major temple visit.

Chopta provides a quieter mountain setting after the Kedarnath descent.

Tungnath introduces another trekking route, with Chandrashila available as an optional extension.

Badrinath completes the Do Dham portion and leads into the Mana Village sightseeing circuit.

Together, these destinations create the core of the Pune to Do Dham Tungnath Chopta Yatra Package.

The First Himalayan Drive

After reaching Delhi, the group travels towards Haridwar. The itinerary includes Har Ki Pauri and Ganga Aarti before continuing towards Rishikesh.

From Rishikesh, the route enters the Garhwal mountains. The journey passes through Devprayag and continues towards Rudraprayag or Guptkashi, with Dhari Devi and Rudraprayag Sangam included as route stops.

The drive continues towards Sitapur, where travellers prepare for the Kedarnath trekking section.

Kedarnath Trek and Darshan

From Sitapur, the itinerary covers an approximately 22 km trek towards Kedarnath.

Travellers can complete the route on foot or choose horse or doli services at their own cost, depending on local availability and conditions.

After reaching Kedarnath, the schedule includes temple darshan, Shankaracharya Samadhi and the evening Aarti. The overnight stay is arranged in the Kedarnath area according to the package plan.

This section requires more physical effort than the regular road portions of the itinerary, so suitable trekking footwear and preparation are important.

Leaving Kedarnath for Chopta

The following morning begins with an early Kedarnath Temple darshan before the descent.

Travellers return towards Gaurikund, with the itinerary including the hot spring area, and then continue to Sitapur.

The journey then moves towards Chopta. After the demanding Kedarnath section, Chopta provides a different mountain environment and becomes the base for the next day's Tungnath trek.

The Tungnath and Chandrashila Option

After sunrise and breakfast at Chopta, travellers begin the approximately 5 km trek towards Tungnath Temple.

The trail offers another high-altitude walking experience, but the setting differs from the Kedarnath route. The surroundings around Chopta provide a more open mountain landscape as the trail gains elevation.

Chandrashila can be attempted as an optional extension if weather and local conditions permit. Travellers should consider the conditions and their own comfort before continuing to the higher section.

After completing the trek, the group continues towards Pipalkoti or Joshimath for the overnight stay.

Badrinath and Beyond

The next stage takes the group towards Badrinath.

The itinerary includes Tapt Kund and Badrinath Temple darshan before continuing towards Mana Village. The sightseeing circuit covers Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Bhim Pul and the Saraswati River region.

This section gives travellers the opportunity to explore the surroundings of Badrinath beyond the main temple area, combining mountain scenery with sites associated with the region's local traditions.

The group then continues towards Delhi for the onward connection back to Pune.

When to Plan a Pune to Do Dham Trip

The travel season depends on temple opening schedules, road conditions and weather across the Himalayan route.

May and June are part of the main travel period. September and October can also be considered after the monsoon, when the route enters its post-monsoon travel window.

July and August can bring heavier rainfall, which may affect road travel and trekking plans. Weather conditions around Kedarnath, Chopta and Tungnath can also change quickly.

Before travelling from Pune, check the latest temple schedules, weather forecast, road conditions and local advisories.

What to Carry for the Mountain Sections

The itinerary includes two significant treks, so comfortable trekking shoes with good grip should be a priority.

Warm layers are recommended for the higher-altitude areas, while a rain jacket or suitable rain protection can help during changing weather. Carry personal essentials in a compact daypack during trekking sections.

Travellers should also be prepared for changes in temperature as the route moves from the plains into the higher Himalayan regions.
